Joel Wollum, Owner
Joel Wollum, the proud owner of Emerald Companies, was raised on a small dairy farm in Minnesota. He discovered his passion for lawn care and landscaping while working for the G&I Landscaping mowing division. This experience prompted him to acquire the company in 1998, which he renamed “Emerald Companies.” Despite facing significant financial setbacks during the 2008 recession, Joel nurtured the company into a successful business with a dedicated team of five core employees.
At home, Joel is happily married to Dina, an RN at Centra Care. They have a blended family of six children, whom they cherish. At 52, Joel foresees a slower pace of life involving family travel, with aspirations of acquiring a camper for these adventures. The Wollums are active participants in their Foley, Minnesota church community. The journey of Joel from his humble beginnings to the successful entrepreneur he is now embodies the Emerald Companies core values of resilience, hard work, and adaptability.
